About 200,000 General Motors SUVs Have Been Recalled

About 200,000 General Motors SUVs have been recalled, according to 9 News. The vehicles, model year 2006 and 2007 mid-size SUVs may have a defective switch in the driver’s door to control the power windows and power door locks. The vehicles are Chevy Trailblazers, GMC Envoys, Buick Rainiers, Saab 9-7x, and Isuzu Ascenders. Moisture in the driver’s door may cause a short circuit in the switch, which can lead to overheating and potentially fire. GM is offering a free repair to all owners of the recalled vehicles, and recommends parking the vehicles outdoors until the repair has been made. Similar issues have resulted in recalls by several other auto manufacturers in recent years.

Every year, there are over 5 million traffic accidents across the United States. These crashes have a wide variety of causes. While the number that are caused by defective tires or auto parts is relatively small, because these failures are completely unexpected, and often happen while the vehicle is in motion, they can be incredibly destructive.
