According to the Seattle Times, the driver of an SUV that rear-ended a Hyundai Elantra on Lake City Way, killing both occupants of the smaller vehicle, had been involved in a fatal aggressive driving incident in 2009 as well. At that time, the Daniel Habeeb caused a fatal accident for which he was tried on criminal charges and accepted a plea agreement of reckless driving and reckless endangerment. In this more recent incident, he drove into the back of a small car that had stopped for a red light, causing the car to burst into flames and killing its driver and passenger, Laura Sheard and Kristopher Martin. Habeeb had two children in his own car as well. Fortunately, both children appear to be fine. Habeeb was taken to Harborview Medical Center.

Have you lost a family member in an aggressive driving accident? You need the help of a Seattle aggressive driving accident lawyer to protect your financial and legal rights while you care for the physical and emotional health of your family.

Each year, there are about 500 traffic fatalities in the state of Washington, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Close to half of those fatalities are speed related. These numbers make clear that aggressive driving is a significant, and dangerous problem. Fatalities cause by aggressive driving are all the more tragic because they could so easily be avoided.

The emotional and physical health of your family is the most important thing, and your focus and your attention will of course be on this area. However, the loss of a family member can also represent a significant financial burden between bills and loss of income. If your family’s tragedy has been caused by a negligently aggressive driver, you should not have to face financial hardship on top of emotional hardship. Seattle aggressive driving accident attorney Jason Epstein has the experience to handle your family’s situation in a compassionate way, and to help protect your legal rights while you look after your family members.
The driver of the SUV fled the scene of the accident and continued northbound on Rainier Avenue before turning into Seward Park. Officers later found the suspected vehicle at the Atlantic City boat ramp with the suspect still behind the wheel and intoxicated. The three men who were found in the roadway were taken to Harborview Medical Center with life threatening injuries, while the inebriated man was taken to Harborview Medical Center for a blood sample.

According to a story in the News Tribune, two boaters were injured on March 22nd, 2011 when their 38-foot boat became wedged under the Washington State Highway 520 floating bridge on Lake Washington. After being extracted by rescue crews, the couple was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. Seattle Harbor Patrol authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.

This story highlights the risks that attend even the most peaceful recreational activities— such as boating. Although this particular Seattle-area boating accident was still under investigation at press time, all too often it happens that Washington’s lakes, rivers, beaches and riding trails are the destinations for crowds of amateur boaters, bikers and other operators of recreational equipment that can quickly turn from “weekend toys” into deadly weapons in the wrong hands…

Boating is one of several leisure activities often undertaken by people who are “rusty” and under-prepared, and possibly under the influence of alcohol; the resulting accidents can cause serious personal injuries, even to victims such as innocent passengers on an ill-fated boat or recreational vehicle.

Injuries can leave innocent victims with long-term financial burdens and other needs. If you or a loved one has been injured by the negligence of others, in Seattle or anywhere in Washington State, you should contact a Seattle personal injury attorney for help. An experienced Seattle personal injury lawyer can discuss the available options with you, and work to win the relief that you and your family may need after an accident. Please call a Seattle personal injury attorney to schedule your free consultation today.

Q: While driving to work in Seattle, I was hit by a driver who doesn’t have insurance. I have been off work with a leg injury for the past two weeks. What can I do now?

A: Immediately after any Seattle accident with injuries, call for police and medical help. Next, you should contact someone who can help you deal with the aftermath of the Seattle accident. Any auto accident involving an uninsured driver should be reviewed by a Seattle, Washington lawyer who has experience dealing with accidents resulting from uninsured drivers.

Q: My wife was involved in a Seattle accident with an uninsured motorist, and I am still focused on caring for her. How long do I have to file a claim against the motorist?

A: In Washington, you generally must file your personal injury claim within three years of the date of the accident. Once this statute of limitations has passed, you will generally not be able to make a claim for injuries. However, you should also be aware that if your claim involves a government-owned vehicle or government employee, you may have only 180 days in which to file your complaint. So, as soon as possible after the accident, it is best to contact a Washington attorney familiar with the laws that may apply to your case.

Q: My son was seriously injured in an accident with an uninsured driver on Interstate 25 near Seattle. Even though I thought I had insurance coverage against uninsured drivers, the insurance company has now told me that some of the medical bills aren’t covered. What should I do?

A: Although basic insurance coverage is mandatory in Washington, not all insurance policies cover all costs. If you are facing medical bills and other unexpected expenses after an encounter with an uninsured driver in the Seattle area, you should contact a Seattle, Washington attorney to help you seek relief from your financial burdens.

Q: When I was rear-ended by an uninsured driver a few days ago, I hit my head very hard against the steering wheel. At first I felt OK, but now I’m suffering from headaches and dizziness. Could this be a result of my accident?

A: Yes, unfortunately it is possible for head injuries and some other types of serious injuries to only show themselves after an accident, sometimes long after an accident. It is important to determine if your accident has indeed caused these symptoms. If you or anyone involved in an accident in Seattle later suffers unexplained pains or other after-effects, you should seek medical attention and consult with a qualified Seattle, Washington attorney to help explore your options for long-term relief.

According to the Washington Post, a Seattle driver had a seizure behind the wheel and hit three pedestrians at the Pike Place Market in Seattle.

Q: My husband is unemployed, so he’s been working informally as a house painter. Last week he fell off a ladder at a customer’s house in Seattle and hurt his back. He’s resting at home, and I’m scared because he’s not covered under my insurance, yet the medical bills still keep coming. What can we do?

A: Now that your husband is beginning to recover from his back injury, it’s time to assess the overall circumstances and prepare for the future. Unforeseen medical bills can make a bad situation worse, so it’s important to seek advice from a Seattle, Washington injury attorney who can work on your behalf to help obtain relief from the financial pressures.

Q: While driving home from work in Seattle a few days ago, I was involved in a car accident; Washington State Patrol officers cited the other driver for making an illegal lane change. Although I felt OK at the time, now my back and neck hurt and I can’t sleep at night. I want to visit a doctor, but I don’t have the money. Can I get the other driver to pay the cost for me to see a doctor?

A: If you were involved in a Seattle accident in which the other driver was cited and you weren’t, then you may have grounds to seek relief, including asking the other driver to pay your medical expenses. Because each case is different, you should contact a knowledgeable personal injury lawyer in the Seattle area to help you explore your legal options.

Q: My friend was involved in a Seattle car accident and she told me that she suffered a “whiplash.” I’ve heard that word used often, but what does it mean?

A: Whiplash is a term used by laypeople to describe a wide range of injuries to the neck and upper back, caused by a sudden strain on the neck—such as through over-extension. These injuries commonly result from car accidents in which one vehicle is hit from the rear by another. The symptoms of whiplash may include pain in the neck, upper back, and shoulders, numbness or tingling in the hands and feet, and headaches. In some cases these symptoms do not appear until weeks after the accident and can lead to chronic pain if left untreated.

Q: My son hurt his back while lifting sacks of concrete mix on his construction job in the Seattle suburbs. His back is so painful that he can’t go back to work. I’m worried because my son’s boss, a small subcontractor on the job, isn’t answering his phone calls. What should I do?!?

A: Back injuries are relatively common among construction workers; that’s why it’s important to make sure that a building contractor has the right insurance before working on a job. Under Washington law, the property owner and the building contractor may both be responsible for costs following a work injury. If the employer isn’t responding to your son’s calls, you should immediately contact a knowledgeable Seattle injury lawyer for help.

Q: Yesterday during my son’s football practice at a Seattle-area high school, he was hit on the head pretty hard by another player. The school doctor said he’s OK, but today my son seems groggy and confused. Now the school wants me to sign a paper saying that they’re not responsible for the incident during his football practice. What should I do?

A: The first step is always to seek qualified medical help for anyone who may have suffered a head injury. If the accident is serious, only move the injured person if absolutely necessary. Anytime head, neck, or back injuries are suspected, wait for professional medical personnel to move the injured person safely. After ensuring competent medical treatment and making sure your family is OK, next you should contact a Seattle personal injury attorney to review the circumstances of the accident before signing anything.

Q: Without my permission, one of our neighbors was playing roughly with my baby daughter and he dropped her, badly bruising her head. I can’t take her to the clinic here in Seattle because I don’t have health insurance. Help!

A: The health of a child is always the highest priority. Following any accident involving a possible head injury, you should always have your child examined by a doctor. If you have no insurance, you should still immediately take your child to the emergency room of a nearby hospital. After attending to your child’s needs, you’ll be in a better frame of mind to consider the next step, which is to contact a Seattle personal injury lawyer to discuss your options and help you seek relief for your child or other family member.

Q: I’ve heard that head injuries can be “cumulative.” What does that mean?

A: Some types of head injuries, such as concussions from blows to the head, are indeed cumulative in their effects. That is, each individual impact to the head has a minimal effect, yet together the accumulated damage from the multiple impacts can be quite serious.

Q: While enjoying a day at the local public swimming pool, I slipped and fell on the concrete walkway and hurt my head. The accident happened two weeks ago, and I’ve been suffering daily headaches since then. Could my fall be causing these headaches?

A: Yes, your fall and the resulting blow to your head may indeed be causing your recurring headaches. Injuries to the head can cause a variety of symptoms, some of them quite serious. These symptoms may require specialized medical treatment. If you’re experiencing headaches or other worrisome symptoms after any head injury, you should seek appropriate medical care. And, if the head injury was the result of negligence by someone else, you should also contact a Seattle injury attorney for advice on how to proceed.

A: Not wearing your helmet may or may not make a difference. If not wearing a helmet did not cause or aggravate injuries, you may be able to obtain the maximum compensation for your injuries—regardless of whether you wore a helmet or not. Your Seattle motorcycle accident attorney will assess the situation and discuss all of your legal options with you.

Q: Last week I was involved in a Seattle motorcycle accident and sustained serious injuries. Should I contact a Seattle motorcycle accident attorney? If I do decided to contact an attorney how long do I have before deciding whether or not to file a lawsuit?

A: After a serious Seattle motorcycle accident, it is crucial to contact a Seattle motorcycle accident attorney immediately. As you heal and recover from your accident, your Seattle motorcycle accident attorney will be able to investigate your accident and collect any and all evidence to assist in your case. Hiring legal representation will also help you collect the maximum amount of compensation that you deserve, so you will be able to focus your time and energy on recovery. In the State of Washington, you have a three year time limit to file a personal injury claim for injuries caused by use or operation of a motor vehicle, including motorcycles.

Q: Do I need a special attorney to handle my motorcycle accident or can I hire any attorney?

A: While any attorney licensed to practice law could probably represent you, it is best to find an attorney who specializes in personal injury and motorcycle accidents in Seattle, Washington. Their knowledge and experience will help get you the maximum compensation for your injuries, property damage, medical expenses, and more.

Q: Should I contact my insurance company after a Seattle motorcycle accident—even if it wasn’t my fault?

A: Absolutely! Most insurance companies expect their policy holders to contact them after any motorcycle or motor vehicle accident. Failure to do so can result in a claim denial. In addition to contacting your insurance company, you should also contact a Seattle motorcycle accident attorney, so that you can maximize your compensation after a devastating motorcycle accident.
